Calcutta: Sourashish Lahiri hit an unbeaten 100 off 48 balls to guide Bhowanipore Club to a massive total of 459 for four, in a CAB First Division League match, against Dakshin Kalikata Sansad, at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus ground, on Wednesday.
Writtick Chatterjee, too, scored a century, hitting an unbeaten 158. The duo shared a partnership of 146 runs for the fifth wicket.
Speaking about the innings, Sourashish said: “When I went on to bat, there were 17 overs left for the day. With the Vijay Hazare Trophy around the corner, I thought of going for my shots. Thankfully, I middled most of them.
“I have been working hard on my batting from the day Ashok paaji and Laxmi (Ratan Shukla) told me that my role in the Bengal side will primarily be of a batsman because we will be playing on green tops. The hard work is paying off now and I’m confident of doing well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.”
Meanwhile, due to wet outfields, five matches couldn’t begin at all on Wednesday while some others had a delayed start.
