Bud club enter last four

Guwahati, Feb. 18: Bud Cricket Club sealed a semi-final berth in the Servo 21st Guwahati Challenge Trophy All Assam Cricket Tournament defeating Maharana Athletic Club by a margin of 35 runs in the last league match at Judges Field here today.

Batting first, Bud batsmen failed to utilise the opportunity as the side was bundled out for a meagre total of 121 runs in 23.3 overs. Kaushik Giri scored 26 runs off 31 balls while Manash Das contributed 21 runs off 35 deliveries. Sourav Bhagawati chipped in with 17 runs off 16 balls.

With a manageable target in sight, Maharana boys put up a dismal show to end up being bundled out for 86 runs in 22 overs. Fahim Naaz scored 28 runs off 22 deliveries while Rahul Kumar chipped in with 18 runs off 24 balls. Swarupam Purkayastha was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets to his kitty for 10 runs in five overs while Debabrata Roy scalped two wickets conceding 15 runs in five overs.

ASPL: The 6th Assam State Premier League football tournament of the Assam Football Association will be held at Sivasagar from March 3 under the aegis of Sivasagar DSA. Redial Club, Nagaon, will meet Food Corporation of India SC, Guwahati in a group A match and Assam Police Blues, Guwahati lock horns with Sports Authority of India, Kokrajhar in group B on the inaugural day.

U-19 I-League: Green Valley SC, Guwahati, will host Rangdajied United FC, Shillong, to a home match of the under-19 I-League at Nehru Stadium here tomorrow.

Green Valley had lost to Royal Wahingdoh FC, Shillong in their earlier match in Shillong last week.
