Friendly fleet for a safe long drive

A good road is a mishap-free road. Unfortunately, few thoroughfares in the state can proudly claim no bloodspill.

As Jharkhand speeds on its first six-lane freeway in Ranchi, A.S.R.P Mukesh tells us about Ring Road’s three 24x7 friends who’ll help grapple with emergencies 365 days a year

Patrol perfect

A six-seater SUV, tailed with a carriage, has been pressed into patrol service by Jharkhand Accelerated Road Development Corporation Limited, the executing agency for Ring Road phases III to VI.

Besides the driver, the van will have a patrolling officer, two helpers and a gunman. The van will man the entire 36km stretch to identify and buffer threats.

Deep Narayan Vaid, the Ring Road supervisor who was on duty on Tuesday, said their primary job was to prevent crimes like road robbery and rape. All one needs to do is dial 7781014183.

“If you identify any kind of threat or meet with an accident, just call and we will rush rescue. Depending on the nature of incident, the nearest police station will be alerted for further assistance,” Vaid promised

Saviour on wheels

A special ambulance has been rolled out for Ring Road. It can be reached at 7781014182 for free trauma care.

“The ambulance is equipped with a life-support system. It has first-aid kits and oxygen cylinders, and is manned by a doctor and two assistants. Accident victims will be rushed to hospital in minimum time. Saving lives is the mission,” the road supervisor said

Never break down

In case your vehicle develops a snag, do not panic. Just dial 7781014183 for help. A crane-mounted truck will bring your hot wheels safely to the nearest workshop for repairs.

The service is free, but tipping the driver for his help won’t be a crime.
