London: Arsenal take on Liverpool in an FA Cup fifth round tie at home on Sunday – a week after being drubbed 1-5 in the Premier League at Anfield last weekend. In another fifth round match of the day, Everton will host Swansea City.
The performance and the result would be fresh in the minds of the Gunners, and Arsene Wenger’s men feel they have a very good chance to avenge the mauling. On the other hand, Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool are in rampaging form of late and are yet to be defeated in 2014.
Liverpool have disposed of Oldham Athletic and Bournemouth to reach this stage, while Arsenal have overcome Tottenham Hotspur and Coventry City to make the last 16.
Arsenal’s last trophy was the FA Cup in 2005 and they have a long history of rivalry with Liverpool in the competition, playing them in the final three times with wins in 1950 and 1971 and a defeat in 2001.
