Electric rickshaw

Pollution-free electric rickshaw, a mix of auto and cycle-rickshaw, was launched on Friday. The two companies behind the launch said the rickshaw would produce “minimal” noise and zero emission.

An electric rickshaw can ply about 80km on a charge of seven-eight hours. A seven-eight hour charge will cost about Rs 10. An autorickshaw needs fuel worth Rs 200 to ply the distance. Each electrical vehicle will cost about Rs 1.25 lakh and can run at a maximum speed of 25km per hour. Four to six persons can sit behind the driver.

A permit will be required to run the vehicle commercially.
