Mumbai: Sourav Ganguly feels Australia’s Twenty20 captain George Bailey won’t make the first XI of Kings XI Punjab, leave alone captaining the side. Instead, he said Virender Sehwag is the best bet to captain the side.
“Sehwag is the best bet to captain Kings XI Punjab and not George Bailey. You have to remember a captain is the most important factor in a team across all formats.
“Bailey will struggle to find a place in the Kings XI team given that David Miller, Shaun Marsh, Glen Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson have to play every game. You can’t drop Marsh as he has been their most consistent performer over the years,” Sourav said.
Speaking about the quality in Mumbai Indians’ side, Sourav said: “Corey Anderson has balanced the side. He is an unknown commodity and the Wankhede pitch will support his bowling.
“They wanted experience in their batting order after Sachin retired. So they bought Mike Hussey… Despite Hussey’s experience, Mumbai’s batting looks a little weak. But then, it is IPL and anything can happen… For example, Ambati Rayudu can turn out to be the hero for Mumbai this season.”
