Siliguri, Feb. 11: Somnath Ghosh, the new vice-chancellor of North Bengal University who took charge today, said he wanted the varsity to get the highest grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in his four-year tenure.
“The first step is to attain the top grade in NAAC,” said Ghosh, who was a professor of chemistry at Jadavpur University.
The NBU got a B++ grade in 2005 from NAAC, an autonomous body to assess higher education institutes. The grade is valid for five years which means NBU has not been evaluated since 2010. The highest grade NAAC awards is A.
