Variety is spice of life: Parliament disrupted again, for 6th day

New Delhi, Feb 12 (PTI): Parliament was disrupted again on Wednesday over a variety of issues, including Telangana, leading to adjournment of both Houses for an hour soon after they met for the day.

As soon as Lok Sabha met, pro- and anti-Telangana members rushed to the Well holding placards in support of their demands.

Members from DMK demanded a probe and a resolution by the UN Human Rights Commission against the Sri Lankan government for violating the rights of Tamils in the island country.

Speaker Meira Kumar asked Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath to table his reply to a starred question and adjourned the proceedings for an hour amid din.

In the Rajya Sabha, TDP and a Congress member from Seemandhra and AIADMK members were standing in the Well even before Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari began proceedings.

TDP members carrying 'Save Andhra Pradesh' banners and the lone Congress member with 'We Want United Andhra Pradesh' posters positioned themselves right before Ansari's Chair.

DMK members led by Kanimozhi too were in the Well holding 'Save Tamil Fishermen' banners while AIADMK members shouted ”we want justice” as party MP V Maitreyan kept tearing copies of House bulletin in protest against MPs being named for unruly behaviour in the House.

Left MPs too moved into the Well seeking a law to protect women. Some of them held banners 'Rape in West Bengal' and 'Stop violence against women.'

Some Left MPs held banners to highlight countrywide strike by 12 lakh central government employees.

Amid din, Ansari adjourned the House till noon.

Turmoil in Parliament over Telangana and other issues has taken a toll on the proceedings ever since the extended Winter Session began on February 5.
