Woman burnt

Shillong, Feb. 10: A woman sustained burn injuries when her acquaintances allegedly set her on fire yesterday afternoon.

According to police, two unidentified persons set the 40-year-old woman ablaze in a jungle near the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) firing range at Madanriting on the outskirts of the city. The incident occurred at 3pm.

The woman, who sustained 20 per cent burn injuries, mostly on her hands and legs, is being treated at Shillong civil hospital.

She is a resident of 3rd Mile in Upper Shillong. Police said the woman had gone to the jungle with four acquaintances. Milkmen from the nearby village rushed her to hospital.
