The high court on Monday allowed Damayanti Sen, the CID deputy inspector-general (operation), two more weeks to file a report on the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl in Madhyamgram and her death.
Justice Dipankar Dutta told public prosecutor Manjit Singh to ask Sen to file her report by February 24. The initial deadline was February 10. Justice Datta assigned the case to Sen following a plea for a CBI probe by the girl’s father, who submitted that he had lost faith in the CID inquiry.
On Monday, Singh submitted in the court that Sen and her team were still working on the case and would need two more weeks to prepare the report.
