Guwahati, Feb. 6: Avon India, a leading direct selling company in beauty products, today launched its first beauty zone in the Northeast here.
The store is part of the firm’s plan to expand its footprint in the region.
Avon Beauty Zones are one-stop shops where sales representatives can place and collect orders and attend sales calls. The shops also conduct product and beauty training programmes and monthly campaign meetings.
“The launch of the beauty zone here, the 11th in the country, is part of our mission to train our representatives on our products and sales, thereby empowering them to run their businesses better. Besides, the centre, covering 2,700 square feet, allows any interested person to experience our brands physically, collect orders and attend sales and product trainings,” Ujjwal Mukhopadhyay, managing director of Avon India, told this correspondent today.
Avon has a product catalogue of over 1,300 items across four segments — colour, skincare, personal care and fragrance. The company has a presence in six northeastern states through eight warehouses and a sizeable number of representatives.
“The Northeast is an important market as women from the region are in tune with the latest style and fashion. We have started such a facility here, as Guwahati happens to be the nerve centre of the region. We will definitely set up more beauty zones in other northeastern cities soon,” Mukhopadhyay said.
Over the past decade, direct selling firms have made vital inroads into the Northeast. Apart from Avon, companies like Amway, Oriflame and Modicare have come up with quality products and services. Amway opened a brand experience centre here last year to provide consultancy service to consumers.
