Bud defeat Chandmari

Guwahati, Feb. 5: Bud Cricket Coaching Centre registered a convincing seven-wicket victory over Chandmari Cricket Coaching Centre in their match of the second Inter-Cricket Coaching Centre Under-14 Cricket Tournament organised by Guwahati Sports Association at Janata Bhawan Parade Ground here today.

Put in to bat, Chandmari boys put up a competitive total of 217 runs before being bundled out in 29.2 overs. Venzeel Sharma topscored with 60 runs off 38 deliveries while Chinmoy Sarma contributed 45 runs off 33 balls.

Rahul Das chipped in with a run-a-ball 40 runs. Aditya Gupta, Ayushman Paul and Saarangajyoti Deka bagged two wickets each.

In reply, Bud batsmen played with ease to get past the target losing three wickets in 27.5 overs.

The side rode on Himjyoti Sarma’s unbeaten 64 runs off 61 balls while Monikarma Sarma scored 37 runs off 26 deliveries. Atul Singh was the other notable contributor with 29 unbeaten runs off 17 balls.

Chinmoy Sarma and Prattoy Raj Das picked up one wicket each.

Super tennis: Ankit Kashyap and Priyana Kalita of Assam made it to the under-16 boys’ and girls’ doubles semi-finals respectively in the AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament under way at South Club in Calcutta.

Sepak takraw

Three Assam players — Rajen Singha, Ramina Singha and L. Thoinu Chanu — have been invited to the ongoing coaching camp for the Indian sepak takraw probables for the Asian Games in Hyderabad.

Netball: The Hiteshwar Saikia junior boys and girls and Keshav Chandra Dhekial Phukan and Haren Baruah men and women’s netball championship was held at Borhapjan School ground in Doomdooma area of Tinsukia ditrict from January 31 to February 2. About 450 players from 12 districts participated in the meet.
