Chingkhei triumph

Imphal, Feb. 4: Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club claimed the overall championís title of the 11th Director- General Assam Rifles Cup and fourth IGAR (S) Junior State Equestrian Championship which concluded at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

In the senior show jumping individual event, Th. Ranjit Singh of MPSC (A) got the gold while L. Mocha Singh of Nambul Mapal PC (B) and S. Jemson of Khurai Polo Club walked away with the silver and bronze medals.

In the junior show jumping event, L. Tony Singh of Nambul Mapal Polo Club claimed the gold medal while S. Sarat Singh of Nagamapal Youth PC collected the silver and N. Babullu Singh of Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club settled for the bronze medal. T. Leishemba of Kangleipak PSC won the gold medal in the junior lance individual event while H. Chand Singh of Thangmeiband Youth PC and Kh. Thomas Singh of Khurai Polo Club fetched the silver and bronze medals. In the senior lance team event, Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club riders got the gold medal while Eastern Students Club (B) got the silver and Kangleipak PSC fetched the bronze medal.

In the march past event, Manipur Police Sports Club walked away with the top honours while Khurai Polo Club and Nambul Mapal Polo Club settled for the second and third spots.

Football: The AMFA has effected changes to the Santosh Trophy team for the fifth T. Ao Memorial NE Football Championship in Aizawl with T. Raju Singh and H. Chakravorti replacing Sahidur Rehman and Krishnakumar Singh.

Trekking: The Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association will be conducting a seven-day sports climbing course at Kangla Rock Wall at its Minuthong complex from February 22-28.
