Mumbai seeking first win

Ranchi: Bottom-placed Mumbai Magicians will face an uphill task when they take on the impressive Ranchi Rhinos in a Hockey India League (HIL) match, here, on Tuesday.

Mumbai have failed to get going in the tournament so far. They lost all their three games and have just three points. Rhinos, on the other hand, are fourth, having won two of their three matches and lost one.

Mumbai captain Glenn Turner admitted that inconsistency had led to their losses.

“It is frustrating and disappointing for us to lose the games… To be honest, we played the first two games against good opposition. Still, we should have put up good performances. We played well in patches… Actually, we couldn’t perform as a unit,” Turner said in a pre-match press conference.

However, he said the team has learnt from their mistakes and will be seeking to register their first win in this edition of the tournament.

“We are quite confident we will register our first win tomorrow. We are not looking back. We will give our 100 per cent and work as hard as we can to notch up a win. The key will be to execute our strategy properly,” he said.

Coach MK Kaushik said the team had problems in defence, which it will look to sort out.
