FIR against hooligans in Dhubri

Dhubri, Feb 3: The principal of Dhubri Bhola Nath College accompanied by the teachers and students lodged an FIR at Dhubri police station (sadar) this evening against the hooligans who had allegedly created disturbances at the ongoing college week.

Principal Ahij Uddin Sheikh alleged that some hooligans, under the leadership of Saiful Hussain of Dhubri town, trespassed on the college premises and disrupted the football match yesterday, which was part of the college week celebrations. Sheikh also alleged that the goons used filthy language and assaulted two college students with cricket bats and stumps.

“The hooligans also threatened the teachers present there with dire consequences if they were not allowed to play (cricket) on the field,” Sheikh alleged.

The college’s student union general secretary, Rofiqul Haque Choudhury, who was present at the police station, alleged that 25 to 30 youths suddenly entered the college field, attacked the football players and intimidated them to leave the field.

Officer-in-charge of Dhubri police station, Manik Kalita, Kalita assured action against the hooligans. In the FIR, the principal mentioned the names of the five accused.
