Neelu bags jump gold

Imphal, Feb. 3: Neelu Rk rode off with the gold in the girls’ open category of the show-jumping event of the 11th Director-General Assam Rifles and fifth IGAR (S) Junior State Equestrian Championship at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Neelu, representing Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club, struck a gold in show jumping with no penalty points and a timing of 1.05 minutes.

Eastern Students’ Club rider A. Romabati Devi fetched the silver with a 1.11-minute timing without any penalty points while L. Sangeeta Devi of Imphal Riding Club with four penalty points and Yaileima of Nagamapal Youth Polo Club with eight penalty points settled for the bronze medals.

In the junior boys tent-pegging lance individual event, T. Leishemba Singh of Kangleipak Polo Club bagged gold with 30.5 points while H. Chand of Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club got the silver with 28.5 points. Kh. Thomas Singh of Khurai Polo Club with 27.0 points and L. Rohit Singh of Imphal Riding Club with 26.5 points collected the bronze.

The senior tent-pegging lance team event final will have seven teams, including Eastern Sporting Club (A), Kangleipak Polo Club, NPSKL (A), Kangleipak Pole Star, Eastern Students Club, Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club (A) and Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club (C), and will be played tomorrow.

Badminton: Manipur Badminton Association president Bijoy Koijam has been elected vice-president of the Badminton Association of India while MBA vice-president H. Gyaneswor Singh has been selected the executive member.

Football: Tiddim Road Athletics Union moved to the final, beating Manipur Police Sports Club by 2-0 goals in the 10th N. Bhubon Memorial Invitation Football Tournament for DSA Kakching Trophy at Kakching ground.
