Manchester: Newly-recruited Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is likely to make his debut for his new club in line for a place in the starting XI when United take on Cardiff City at the Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Even though the Spaniard is yet to achieve full fitness, chances are high that Mata will be playing his first home match for United on Tuesday, according to manager David Moyes.
Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is doubtful for their match against ninth-placed Southampton after picking up a knock in last week’s 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over third tier Coventry City. At the Anfield, Liverpool and Everton lock horns in the Merseyside derby with both the sides well placed in the Premier League table.
“Juan’s not too far away from [full] fitness. I know he has missed a few games and maybe not started quite as many games as he’d have liked, but I’d like to get him involved against Cardiff,” Moyes said.
The club revealed he would wear the No. 8 shirt rather than the No. 7 used by former greats Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo following his $61.22 million move.
