Maths honour for Super teacher

Super 30 founder Anand Kumar was conferred the Ramanujan Mathematics Award at the 8th National Mathematics Convention, 2014, in Rajkot, Gujarat on Monday.

The award is given to a person who has at least three papers published in international journals and is still involved in teaching mathematics.

Anand’s papers have been published in several international journals, including the Mathematical Spectrum and The Mathematical Gazette of UK.

He was thrice invited jointly by the Mathematical Association of America and American Mathematical Society in US to present his papers.

Anand told The Telegraph over phone from Rajkot: “The award not only recognised the hard work and dedication of mine but also of thousands of students who have studied under me.”

Renowned atomic scientist Pitambar Patel and scientist J.J. Rawal presented the award to Anand. A large number of academics, mathematicians and scientists were present at the function.

The Super 30, which imparts free residential mentoring to 30 students from under-privileged families for IIT, has achieved international recognition because of its success rate and social awakening.
