Visakhapatnam: The Sri Lanka women registered their first victory in the limited overs series against India after beating the hosts by three wickets in the first Twenty20 International, here, on Saturday.
Put into bat, the India women’s team scored 147 for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 20 overs with in-form captain Mithali Raj top-scoring with 67 off 47 balls with nine fours and two sixes. Harmanpreet Kaur also made a useful contribution of 40 runs.
In reply, Sri Lanka scored 148 for seven in 19.5 overs with captain Shashikala Siriwardene scoring 52 off 39 balls. Chamari Polgampola hit a quickfire 19 off 16 balls as the Sri Lanka women won the match with a ball to spare.
