Leading trade outfit Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has decided to fight for a long-pending housing colony project for entrepreneurs in Adityapur industrial area.
President Suresh Sonthalia said on Wednesday that they would take up cudgels for completion of the project, which was proposed way back in 1986.
“The Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada) had acquired a major portion of the 250 acres of land required for the project. Several entrepreneurs had also registered their names for the housing project,” Sonthalia told The Telegraph.
The senior functionary revealed that an SCCI delegation led by him would meet chief minister Hemant Soren next week.
“We are trying to seek an appointment from the chief minister next week. Apart from other issues confronting trade and industry, the housing colony project will figure prominently in our discussions,” added Sonthalia.
Aiada, the nodal agency looking after development of Adityapur, and Infrastructure Leasing and Finance Services (IL&FS) had signed an MoU in 2006 for setting up a state of the art housing colony for entrepreneurs.
According to the MoU, IL&FS was entrusted with the responsibility of preparing a blueprint and float tenders to select the developer who would establish the colony with modern facilities like hospital, school, multiplex, shopping mall and apartments for industrialists in Adityapur.
But, the project failed to make any headway.
