‘Kohli is just outstanding’

Hamilton: New Zealand have started off well by winning the opening ODI but their star batsman Ross Taylor feels India have a good chance to bounce back in the second game here on Wednesday as conditions are more likely to favour the visitors.

“It was a great start for us, a great all-round team performance on Sunday. We all performed our roles exceptionally well and carried our form from the West Indies series, especially the T20s,” said Taylor. But India, I am sure they will come back in the series. They will retaliate,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hamish Bennett will replace Adam Milne in the squad for the remainder of the ODIs.

Talking about the weather conditions ahead of the second ODI, Taylor said that it will play a crucial role. “But we know the conditions better and have played here a couple times, this season.”

Taylor also had words of praise for Virat Kohli. “Virat is a world-class player and he has been one for some time now. He is just outstanding. He’s not far from greatness,” he said. (Agencies)
