Calcutta: M.C. Mary Kom has a dream. With more than two years to go for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Mary Kom has her plans in place.
“I’m dreaming of gold… I’ve already started training and after two/ three months should feel 100 per cent fit. I will again be competing in the 51kg… With more experience I am hoping for the best…” said Mary Kom who won the bronze at the London Olympics.
Mary Kom was part of an interactive session, organised by Ficci Ladies Organisation, in the city on Thursday.
Concerned about the rising crime against women, Mary Kom has appealed to include martial arts as a subject in schools.
“The happenings around suggest that women are not safe, especially those who move around alone… If schools take up martial art as a subject it will help… That will help to maintain fitness and also be safe… If this happens, it will be great. I will request all parents to support children to take to sport and be fit,” she said.
