Navarang enter semi-finals

Guwahati, Jan. 15: Navarang Club sealed a semi-final berth in the Ramesh Barooah Trophy Invitation Cricket Tournament, organised by Gauhati Town Club, defeating Tinsukia Railway by six wickets at Judges Field here today.

The Tinsukia men were restricted to 139 runs in 33.2 overs. Bijan Dutta scored 29 runs off 41 balls while Arnab Choudhury chipped in with 24 runs off 45 deliveries.

Sadek Imran Choudhury and Amar Das scalped three wickets each. In reply, Navarang batsmen got past the target losing four wickets in 34.3 overs.

Bishal Roy topscored with 37 runs off 67 deliveries while Sadek remained unbeaten with 21 runs off 56 balls. Noushad Ali remained not out with 20 runs off 23 deliveries.

Kunal Roy bagged two wickets going for 32 runs in 5.3 overs while Rajat Khan and Bijan Dutta picked up one wicket each.

Junior tennis: The Oil India All-Assam Junior Tennis Tournament will be organised by Zaloni Club on its courts at Duliajan in Dibrugarh district from January 17 to 21.
