Shop looted

A gang of 12 dacoits looted a jewellery shop at Piyali Town market in Baruipur early on Wednesday. The dacoits fled with jewellery and cash worth Rs 10 lakh. Before leaving, they tied the night guard to a lamp post, gagged him and fired shots in the air to chase away traders who were alerted by the guard. Police said the incident occurred around 1.30am. “The dacoits attacked two vendors and snatched their mobile phones,” said a police officer. Though a police kiosk is situated close to the shop, cops reached the spot nearly two hours after the incident, alleged traders. Cops have denied the allegation.
