City Cricket Club triumph

Guwahati, Jan. 10: City Cricket Club registered a three-wicket victory over Bud Cricket Club Blue in their match of the Ramesh Barooah Trophy Invitation Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.

An all-round display by Suhail Rehman sealed the match for City Cricket Club, who got past the target losing seven wickets in 35.2 overs. Both sides failed to get off to a flying start and it was left to the tailenders to make an impact in the match by managing to pull up their respective teamís total.

Bud batsmen put up a total of 179 runs before being bundled out in 38.1 overs. Manoj Malo topscored with 51 runs off 60 balls while Roshan Basfor contributed with 35 runs off 55 deliveries. Jogeswar Bhumij was the other notable scorer with 34 runs off 32 balls.

Rudra Pradhan scalped three wickets conceding 33 runs in his eight overs while Santa Kishore Das picked up three wickets going for 43 runs in six overs. Suhail Rehman took two wickets for 22 runs in his 7.1 overs.

In reply, City Cricket Club batsmen rode on Suhail Rehmanís unbeaten knock of 59 runs off 64 deliveries to steer the ship home in 35.2 overs. Dipak Bhat contributed 38 runs off 48 balls while Iqbal Ansari chipped in with almost a run-a-ball 26 off 27 deliveries. Jogeswar Bhumij scalped three wickets giving away 27 runs in eight overs while Amit Boro was a bit on the expensive side, picking up three wickets conceding 46 runs in 6.2 overs. Anup Ghosh took one wicket going for 20 runs in his five overs.

Bud Cricket Club Green will play Maharana Athletic Club tomorrow.
