Posterior ousted

Imphal, Jan. 10: CDO Charangpat prevailed over Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur by 4-3 goals through penalty strikes, to sail into the final of the first under-14 Boys’ Herojit Waribam Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at Practice Field, Khuman Lampak today.

Posterior started confidently with K. Keke Sharma scoring through a penalty corner conversion in the 14th minute. However, CDO Charangpat jumped back into the fray with S. Atom Singh fetching the equaliser in the 48th minute of regulation time.

In the subsequent penalty stroke, CDO Charangpat player T. Borley, S. Atom and Th. Akendra scored for the team. N. Dutta and N. Aman found the net for Posterior Hockey.

Hockey Union moved into the final as well, defeating Khongman Students Club by 8-0 goals in the other semi-final.

Hockey Union dominated the proceedings in the first semi-final, with Y. Bidyananda getting his team’s first goal in the sixth minute.

W. Nirajkumar and A. Suresh Sharma converted two penalty corners in the first half. Sharma scored two goals and Y. Bidyananda, S. Chingkheinganba and Y. Nedish fetched a goal each for the victory.

Churchand soccer: Tiddim Road Athletic Union will clash with SSB Bengal for the champion’s title of the 57th Sir Churchand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament at Khuman Lampak main stadium tomorrow.

Karate: N. Binod Kumar of ISKF Patsoi claimed the gold medal in the under-17 boys’ kata of the first Open State-Level Karate-Do Championship at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak, today. Kh. Amarjit of SAI RC and Ksh. Bikram of ISKF Patsoi fetched the silver and bronze medals. In the under-55kg kumite event, Md Rajuddin OF SRSK Kairang beat compatriot Y. James for the gold.

Seven-a-side football: RDD Wangkhei beat NU Khetrigao by 4-1 goals to move into the semi-final of the fifth M. Rabichandra Memorial Seven-a-Side Football Tournament at Kiyamgei.
