53-run victory for Navajyoti Club

Guwahati, Jan. 9: Navajyoti Club clinched a comfortable 53-run victory against Bud Cricket Club (Blue) in a group league match of the Ramesh Baruah Trophy invitation cricket tournament, organised by Gauhati Town Club, at Judges Field here today.

Electing to bat, Navajyoti were all out for 143 in 27.5 overs.

The Navajyoti team later rode a five-wicket haul by Kon Urang to bowl out the Bud batsmen for 90 in 22.6 overs.

Ranji player Sibsankar Roy topscored for Navajyoti with a brilliant knock of 62 runs, laced with seven fours and a six and Arminder Singh Oberoi chipped in with 18 (3x4).

Former Tripura Ranji player Tushar Saha scalped three wickets for Bud conceding 31 runs.

Teammates Jogeswar Bhumij and Siddhartha Baruah shared two each for nine and 13 runs respectively.

Saha also topscored for Bud with 16 runs, hitting two boundaries.

Dibash Hazarika (15, 2x6) and Siddhartha Baruah (14, 2x4) were the other notable scorers, though batsmen threw wickets at regular intervals.

Urang returned with the figures of five for 16.

Abhijit Singha Roy claimed three for 16 and Bikash Chetry picked up the remaining two wickets for 11 runs.
