Siliguri, Jan. 6: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the mini secretariat at Fulbari on the outskirts of Siliguri on January 20, minister Gautam Deb said yesterday.
Mamata is scheduled to visit Siliguri on January 20 and Darjeeling on January 22
Deb said Mamata would inaugurate Uttarbanga Utsav, the annual cultural fest, at the Kanchenjungha Stadium here the same day.
“The newly-constructed mini secretariat, Uttar Kanya, will be inaugurated by the chief minister on January 20. The event will be held at 2pm. She will also inaugurate the Uttarbanga Utsav at a programme in Kanchenjungha Stadium here the same evening,” he said. Deb added that around 25 state ministers were expected to attend the Fulbari event.
Construction of the two-storey mini secretariate building started in November 2012 at a cost of around Rs 60 crore. Deb said the building was being constructed on an 11acre plot and the total area is 80,000sqft. “It will be connected to Nabanna (in Howrah) through a video conference facility,” Deb added.
