Imphal, Jan. 6: North Imphal Sporting Association made it to the last four stage beating Reitlang FC by 3-1 goals in the 57th Sir Churachand Singh Football Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung here today.
In the last quarter-finals, NISA had no difficulty in taming the Mizoram outfit as they fired in two goals in the first half.
NISA forward L. Sanatomba Singh scored the early goal in the fourth minute after collecting the ball off a free kick from T. Ajit Kumar Singh for the lead.
FC Reitlang were unlucky as they missed some close shots to make matters worse for them. NISA increased the pressure and L. Sanatomba Singh came up with his teamís second goal in the 25th minute from a midfield pass by G. Golmei to post a 2-0 lead in the first half.
FC Reitlang got their only goal in the 61st minute with Samuel Lalmuanpui sending a grounder to beat a diving keeper to trail by 1-2 goals.
NISA kept their game easy and consolidated the margin in the 69th minute off a free kick. Seasoned campaigner S. Manimohan directed his kick right into the net for his teamís final goal.
NISA player P. Romes and FC Reitlang player Lalduhzuala and R. Lalremruata were booked with a yellow card. In the first semi-final tomorrow, Tiddim Road Athletic Union will take on North Eastern Reorganisation and Cultural Association at Khuman Lampak main stadium.
Referee test: The All Manipur Football Association has informed that examination for referees for all categories will be held on Februray 9.
U-15 cricket: Model Club registered a five-wicket win against Force XI in the under-15 K. Birla Memorial Cricket Tournament 2013 at Patsoi in Imphal West.
