Quiz, youth festival in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, Jan. 5: The 13th Bodoland Book Fair began at DN Himatsingka ground in Kokrajhar town today.

Assam transport minister Chandan Brahma inaugurated the book fair.       

BTC executive member Derhasat Basumatary, the president of the book fair, presided over the inaugural programme.

Organised by the Bodoland Territorial Council, 62 well known publishers from New Delhi, Calcutta and Guwahati are participating in the book fair.

Various competitions like a children’s art competition, essay writing, recitation and cultural programmes will be held.

The centre of attraction would be the 3rd Bodoland quiz competition to be conducted by quizmaster Barry O’Brien on Wednesday for senior and junior participants.

A multilingual poets’ meet will be held on Friday.

BTC executive member Derhasat Basumatary said the organising committee had stressed a youth festival where over 1,500 students from 40 colleges and universities will participate.

Bodoland University vice-chancellor Hemanta Kumar Baruah will inaugurate the youth festival.

The book fair will continue till January 12.
