New Delhi: Injuries to some key players could derail India’s plans in the forthcoming Hockey World League (WHL), beginning here at the Dhyan Chand Sports Complex from January 10.
According to Hockey India (HI) sources, at least five leading players – Ramandeep Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Danish Mujtaba, Gurvinder Singh Chandi and Harvir Sandhu – are nursing injuries and are doubtful starters.
To make matters worse, chief coach Terry Walsh, on Friday, admitted that Indian players were not yet ready to take on the best teams in the world. The Aussie, however, said Indians are as skilful as any other player in the world.
“We are very poor in finishing,” said Walsh.
