Guwahati, Jan. 3: Maharana Athletic Club rode Pritam Dasís all-round performance to register a two-wicket victory over Ankurjyoti Club in the inaugural match of the Ramesh Baruah Trophy Invitation Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.
Batting first, Ankurjyoti Club could only manage to put up a total of 164 runs before being bundled out in the last ball of their stipulated 40 overs. Raju Kalita topscored with 65 runs off 37 balls while Rio Pramanik chipped in with 27 runs off 47 deliveries.
Nirendra Dekaraja was the other notable contributor with 24 runs off 48 balls. Pritam Das was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 19 runs in eight overs while Sanjib Dutta and Neeraj Tiwari scalped two wickets each.
In reply, Maharana batsmen got past the target losing eight wickets in 36.1 overs. Pritam Das led the chase with a quickfire 37 off 20 balls while Neeraj Tiwari contributed 31 runs off 50 deliveries. Akash Rana remained unbeaten with 19 runs off 24 balls.
Raju Kalita picked up three wickets going for 33 runs in 7.1 overs while Abdul Saher Islam and Rio Pramanik scalped two wickets each. Ankurjyoti Club will play Bud Cricket Club tomorrow.
The Oil India All-Assam Junior Tennis Tournament will be organised by Zaloni Club at its courts in Duliajan in Dibrugarh district from January 17 to 21.
