Tiddim edge past ARC, enter semis

Imphal, Jan. 3: Tiddim Road Athletic Union sailed into the semi-final, defeating ARC Shillong by a solitary goal in the 57th Sir Churchand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Tournament, 2013 played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

In the first quarter-final, Tiddim Road Athletic Union faced a stiff challenge from ARC Shillong to render the first half goalless.

In the second half, Th. Premkumar Singh, getting a long pass from S. Surchand Singh, outpaced ARC Shillong defender S. Kishan Singh to score the winning goal in the 64th minute.

In the second quarter-final tomorrow, SSB West Bengal will meet Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union at 1.30pm.

MUPC competition: Youth Welfare Club, Malom prevailed upon Youth Organisation Sporting Club by 8-7 goals during a penalty shootout in the Manchester United Premier Cup Selection Competition at Artificial Turf, Khuman Lampak today.

Under-15 cricket

Youth Welfare Club, Langthabal posted a 209-run win over Hawk Eyes in the first state-level under-15 Cricket Tournament organised by YWC Patsoi at Patsoi in Imphal West today.

YWC Langthabal batsman Athoi bagged the Man of the Match award.
