JVM plans fund-raising drive

Ranchi, Jan. 3: The JVM is planning to raise Rs 10 crore from its leaders and members to fund the party’s preparations for the coming elections.

A 10-day campaign will be launched on JVM supremo Babulal Marandi’s birthday on January 11 to collect Rs 100 each from party workers at the panchayat and block levels.

Similarly, the district and state-level leaders will contribute Rs 500 each.

The aim is to collect minimum Rs 30,000 from every block and Rs 2.5 lakh from every district. Nevertheless, the target for bigger districts, like Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and East Singhbhum, has been set at Rs 23.5 lakh each.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the JVM central committee presided over by Marandi.

“The party has to be financially strong to face challenges ahead. As the polls are approaching, our needs will increase in the coming days,” said JVM principal general secretary Pradip Yadav at a news conference today.
