New Delhi, Dec. 31: Lalu Prasad was today offered hope but no concrete assurance of an electoral alliance with the Congress when he called on Sonia Gandhi for a “courtesy” meeting.
The RJD head was beaming with hope when he emerged out of 10 Janpath after the over half-hour meeting. Lalu Prasad said he would have another meeting with Sonia next month to talk about electoral adjustment.
“The mistake of 2009 will not be repeated this time. The RJD, Congress and the LJP will join hands to fight communal forces,” he said, referring to the last Lok Sabha election when the RJD and the LJP unilaterally declared a seat sharing arrangement ignoring the Congress.
To assert his secular credentials, Lalu Prasad lashed out at Narendra Modi and said that he would not allow the BJP mascot’s dream to become the Prime Minister succeed.
