Where’s the party tonight? Why, on the dance floor

It’s New Year Eve again and there’s a party happening in just about every nook in town. So here’s calling all party animals to the biggest and most rocking celebrations to ring out 2013 and ring in the New Year. The Telegraph picks some of the best dance floors to rock on and a couple of joints to tuck in the special delicacies!

Event: Castle Hill presents NYE 2014 in association with t2 and brought to you by Alchemy

Place: Rudraksh Resort, Sonapur

Time: 6pm onwards

What to expect: The best of electronic dance music with both international and local DJs performing. ‘The ambience will be different as there will be two dance floors, indoors and outdoors, featuring Zen System — a headliner from The Netherlands. DJs Varun and Raj from Guwahati and DJ Elton from Shillong will dish out the best of tech house, techno and electro house music,’ said Erfan of Alchemy!

Food: Bar-B-Q kitchen, Chinese cuisine and ethnic delights with bonfires spread out across the resort to keep the chill at bay.

 

Event: Tarun Arora Entertainment presents Bollywood Fashion Party powered by t2 and in association with Ginger

Place: Ginger Hotel, VIP Road

Time: 8pm onwards

What to expect: Celebrities from Mumbai — Miss World Tourism Priyanka Shah and model Nisha Harale apart from a performance by DJ Pulse, a dance show by Red Wings, pulsating music, karaoke and a kids’ fashion show. ‘The event will have a bit of everything, from a fashion show for children to a Mr and Mrs Bollywood 2014, where couples from the audience can take part. So, everyone needs to be attired in their best,’ said Sumit Beria of Tarun Arora Entertainment.

Food: Apart from a lavish buffet dinner at the restaurant, foodies can expect to be spoilt for choice with kebabs, tikkas, sausages and fish fingers at the stalls. Vegetarians, too, can expect a lot on their plates.

 

Event: t2 NYE featuring SEQUEL

Place: Cloud 9 (Hotel Centre Point), Shillong

Time: 8pm onwards

What to expect: Music would be a sine qua non where SEQUEL will be the artist while DJ Larry will be at the warm-up set. Ashley Dkhar, who is part of the organising team, said the party is expected to draw at least 300- 400 guests from across the Northeast, including tourists. ‘All rooms at the hotel are sold out,’ he said.

Food: Apart from the welcome drink and gifts for the guest, they can try the Pan Asian and Thai cuisines.

 

Event: New Year Extravaganza

Place: Ambrosia, ABC Point

Time: 6pm onwards

What to expect: Sea food, unlimited mocktails and snacks complemented by live music.

Food: ‘Special sea octopus, mackerel, pomfret, lobster and boneless hilsa will be there. Besides an elaborate multi-cuisine buffet with a spread of Indian, Chinese, Thai, Continental and Mexican dishes, there will be a special New Year a la carte menu as well,’ executive chef Faruk Ahmed said.

 

Event: New Year’s Eve 2014

Place: Piccadilly, Panbazar

Time: 6pm onwards

What to expect: Mughlai dishes and an array of mocktails.

Food: ‘Apart from best of chicken, mutton and fish biryani, we will of course have Chinese and tandoori items,’ said Niluttama Banerjee, proprietor of Piccadilly, one of the oldest restaurants in Guwahati.
