WHAT TO WEAR

For the club nights above where you’ll be dancing on the lawns

Wear wedges. Those greens will kill your killer stilettos.

x Forget a stole or wrap. To cover up when it gets cooler.

For a house party

Flaunt your legs in a sexy body-con. Add sequins and shimmer to lift the look.

x Land up in jeans and a tee, just because it’s a house party.

For lounging at home

Be comfy chic in a relaxed maxi dress. Make a little effort for the new years-y feeling.

x Slip into PJ mode. The TV uniform deserves a break one night.

For nightclub-hopping

Rock a print. There’s no way anyone can miss a strong statement print.

x Wear black. Unless of course you want to merge with the background!

MAKE-UP TIPS:

“Glam it up on the last night of the year,” says beauty pro Bridgette Jones. Keep your eyebrows super-defined, go smoky on the eyes, but sans black. Think wine, metallic silver and gold and blue. Remember, it should sparkle! Keep your lips a “caramel nude but glossy” (like Paris Hilton, picture in right). Bouncy and wavy curls will make heads turn.

MUSIC & MOVES:

Show off those hip-hop moves to Honey Singh’s Party all night or do the Lungi dance. Go retro with Stayin’ Alive by The Bee Gees, Queen’s I Want To Break Free or fire up the imagination with Beyonce’s “visual album”!

HOUSE PARTY:

Theme-based parties are the flavour of the season — retro, gold and black or the lungi are the most popular.

TIPPLE TIPS:

Cocktails are out, Jagerbomb is in, says mixologist Irfan Ahmed. “The new thing is Café Patron (tequila-coffee liqueur) shots, had with powdered cinnamon and sugar.”

WEATHER WATCH:

New Year’s Eve will be cool, with a northerly wind blowing. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 14 degrees Celsius.

POLICE BANDOBAST:

For the first time in Calcutta, 15 assistance booths will be set up at all major intersections on Park Street on New Year’s Eve. UAV Durdanto will keep an eye on Park Street.
