New Delhi, Dec. 30: The JD(U)’s Sushil Kumar Singh and JMM’s Kameshwar Baitha today separately met BJP president Rajnath Singh to seek BJP tickets for the next year’s Lok Sabha elections, sources said.
Sushil Kumar Singh, the Dal MP from Aurangabad in south Bihar, acknowledged he met the BJP chief but claimed that it was for a “personal work” and had nothing to do with the Lok Sabha elections. Baitha could not be contacted.
“I did meet Rajnathji. It was for a personal work and nothing related to politics,” Singh told The Telegraph.
BJP sources, however, said the Aurangabad MP as well as Baitha, the MP from Palamu in Jharkhand, were eager to join the party but nothing had been finalised yet.
“Many MPs from Bihar and Jharkhand are approaching us to contest on the lotus symbol. We cannot give tickets to everybody but some of them can be accommodated” a BJP leader said. He said neither Singh nor Baitha had been assured a party ticket, though their cases were under serious consideration.
Former RJD MP and Lalu Prasad’s brother-in-law is also looking for a BJP ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections.
