JEE model Q&A to go online in January

The state JEE board will upload model questions and answers on its website next month to familiarise candidates with the exam pattern.

The exam is slated for April 19 and 20.

The board had introduced in February a new question pattern with some multiple-choice questions having more than one correct answer.

Model questions and answers for physics, chemistry and mathematics were uploaded on the board’s website to help students write the engineering entrance on April 21.

Next month, model questions and answers of the three subjects and also biology will be uploaded. This year, the board had not conducted the biology exam because a nationwide medical entrance was held.

“A candidate has to bubble all the correct options for the questions with multiple correct answers to score full marks. They will get part marks if they choose at least one correct option. The model question and answers help students understand the pattern,” said a board official.

There will be model question and answers for all three categories of questions: category-I (1 mark, 1 correct answer), category-II (2 marks, 1 correct answer) and category-III (2 marks, more than 1 correct answer).

Board chairman Bhaskar Gupta said they had received feedback from students about the need for uploading the model questions and answers.

“Students are more eager to know about the biology question pattern. We have already uploaded the biology syllabus, along with that of physics, chemistry and mathematics,” said Gupta.

The board will hold the biology test next year as the Supreme Court has scrapped the all-India common medical entrance test conducted by the Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education this year.

In the 100-mark biology test, there will be five questions of two marks each, containing multiple correct answers.

There will be similar number of multiple correct answer questions though the papers are of 75 marks each in physics and chemistry.
