1 held in shooting case

Jamshedpur, Dec. 28: Police today claimed to have arrested one of the men who shot at and injured Golmuri trader Amit Agrawal on the night of December 23 and seized a pistol from him.

However, they refused to divulge the name, saying that investigations were still to be completed.

We have arrested one person in connection with the case and confiscated a pistol. But the arrest is subject to verification. We will convene a news conference when we will crack the case, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amol V. Homkar said.

If insiders are to be believed, the police, under tremendous pressure to make a breakthrough, are randomly picking up people carrying unlicensed firearms for interrogations.

A youth called Ajit Singh has been nabbed with a countrymade pistol. But its doubtful whether he is involved in the Amit Agrawal shooting case or not, said an officer, requesting anonymity.
