Focus on coal hub growth

State rural development minister Chandra Shekhar Dubey in on Thursday reiterated the Jharkhand government’s commitment to provide all kinds of support to coal industry and related business prospects in the state.

“The state government is committed to provide necessary protection to the industry,” said Dubey, the chief guest at an event in Dhanbad.

Federation of Dhanbad Zila Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Jharkhand chapter of Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) had organised a daylong seminar on new prospects in coal industry at BCCL’s community centre at Koylanagar.

The participants deliberated on fresh avenues for growth in coal business in Jharkhand.

Federation president Rajeev Sharma said that business of coal by-products should be explored to reap maximum benefits of the industry.

Assocham regional director Iqbal Siddiqui advocated for setting up of allied industries near the coal mines in Dhanbad. “The money spent on transportation of coal to thermal power plants in distant locations can easily be saved by setting them up near the coal mines,” Siddiqui said.

ISM professor Pramod Pathak stressed on better management in coal industry for overall progress of the state.
