Facilities for Jharia displaced

The 1,165 families from underground fire-affected areas of Dhanbad, who have been rehabilitated in 2,352 quarters of Jharia Vihar Colony in Belgarhia of Baliapur block, will soon have all basic amenities within easy reach.

For, construction of a shopping complex and children’s park is complete, while that of a temple, mosque and high school is going on at full pace.

Chief manager (civil) of Jharia Rehabilitation Development Authority Sunil Dalela said: “The market complex at Belgarhia worth Rs 73.30 lakh is ready. A final decision on allotment of 24 shops in the two-storey building will be taken by January 31.”

Sources said that priority would be given to those who parted with their land for construction of the residential colony.

The market building will also house a bank and a post office. “The existing branch of Bank of India, operating from the residential quarters, will be shifted,” a source said.

A temple and a mosque are also coming up on 23 decimal and nine decimal plots, respectively. Dalela said: “Work on the temple has been completed till the dome level. Slab casting is currently being done at the mosque.”

Casting of slab on the first floor of the two-storey high school building comprising of eight class rooms besides separate urinals for girls and boys is over.
