Hyderabad, Dec. 22: Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy called on Pranab Mukherjee today and so did legislators in favour of a Telangana state as the bifurcation issue gave no respite to the President even during his customary winter sojourn in the Andhra Pradesh capital.
A “defiant” Reddy called on the President at his official residence here and remained closeted with him for an hour. It is learnt that the chief minister explained the possible negative impact of the state’s planned division on the Seemandhra region.
A delegation of TRS MPs also called on Mukherjee, seeking his intervention for speedy completion of the bifurcation process. The President said the process would be completed according to the procedure laid down by the Constitution and he would not interfere at this juncture.
