Trader son found murdered in sack

Jamshedpur, Dec. 21: A 15-year-old Jugsalai boy, who was sent by his businessman father to collect rent from a tenant last afternoon but did not return home, was found murdered at a jungle in Seraikela-Kharsawan district today.

Faizal Imtiaz, a Class IX student of DBMS English School, was found bundled up with both hands tied inside a sack at Saldih village in Rajnagar police station area, around 25km from Jugsalai, at 8 this morning. Police, who suspect that the teen was strangulated to death with the help of an electric wire, have registered a murder case.

The tenant, Mohammed Raza, and three others have been picked up for interrogation after the victim’s father, Imtiaz Ahmed, voiced suspicion that the former might have a hand in the killing.

Faizal was second among the three sons of Imtiaz, a cloth merchant and resident of Millatnagar on Mahatopara Road, Jugsalai.

“I have an old house at Hill View Colony, which I have rented to Raza. Yesterday, I sent Faizal to collect the rent around 11am. He had taken his motorbike. When he did not return home, I tried calling up on his mobile phone, but it was switched off. Finally, I lodged a missing report with Jugsalai police at night,” Imtiaz said, adding that he did not have good ties with the tenant.

After receiving the complaint, police launched a search in the night and found Faizal’s motorbike parked at Tatanagar vehicle stand.

“It appears that the assailants abducted the boy from near Tatanagar station and murdered him somewhere else before dumping the body at the jungle at Saldih. More than one person was involved,” said officer in charge of Jugsalai police station Arun Kumar Mishra, promising to nail the guilty soon.

Rajnagar police, who recovered the body, could not establish the identity initially and sent it to MGM Medical College in Jamshedpur for post-mortem. A wireless message was circulated across Kolhan, which was received by Jugsalai police.

The victim’s family was eventually contacted. Imtiaz identified the body as that of Faizal’s.
