Three goons slit man’s stomach

Berhampur, Dec. 20: Three youths slit the stomach of a liquor shop salesman today in Nuagaon 42-km from here.

The deceased was identified as Janardan Jena alias Danei, 25. He was working as a salesman in a foreign liquor shop owned by Manoj Jena at Nuagaon. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

“Three youths, in the age group of 30, came on a motorcycle and attacked the victim with a shaving razor in front of the liquor shop. Before attacking him, they fired from a pistol in the area to scare people there. Janardan had suffered injuries on his stomach and head. He died on the spot,” said Baleswar Gidhi, inspector-in-charge Aska police station.

The incident occurred during the day at Baragaon-Babanpur road near the Aska Sugar factory.

All the three accused fled from the spot after attacking Janardan.

“We have identified two of the three accused. The two are Sunil Nayak and Kartik Nahak. All of them are absconding and we are trying to nab them,” he said.

The murder is result of an old rivalry.

The killers had been out of Aska for the past six months and they had earlier threatened to kill Janardan. Manoj Jena, the owner of the liquor shop, is at present lodged in the Aska sub-jail in a murder case. It was a good opportunity to kill Janardan in the absence of Manoj, who was shielding him, police sources said.
