Windies steady

Hamilton: Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Denesh Ramdin rebuilt West Indies’ first innings with a 200-run partnership to guide their side to 289 for six at the close of play on the first day of the third and final Test against New Zealand, on Thursday.

Chanderpaul, batting on 94, was in sight of his 29th Test century with captain Darren Sammy on nought at stumps, after wicket-keeper Ramdin was dismissed for 107.
