Calcutta: South Africa batsman Hashim Amla heaped praise on Faf du Plessis and Vernon Philander for resurrecting the Proteas innings after they were reduced to 146 for six at one stage.
“The ball was swinging pretty consistently throughout the day and the wicket has a bit of nip it. It is not easy batting on it. Some balls were keeping a bit low and some of the balls were bouncing a lot. Life was difficult at times on this surface.
“But Faf and Vernon batted well in the final session and that was a big positive for us,” he said.
“We always believe that we have enough quality in the dressing room to help us bounce back in the match,” the 30-year-old said.
