Siliguri, Dec. 17: The Trinamul Congress Chhatra Parishad won all 25 seats of the students’ union at the North Bengal Dental College and Hospital.
This is the second consecutive year that Trinamul’s student wing has won the college election.
“The TMCP has won for the second year and we attribute our success to the good work done by the portfolio holders of the previous year. We thank all the students,” said Abhik Chatterjee, general secretary of the newly elected union.
All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), student wing of the SUCI, the only organisation that contested the polls, today held a rally alleging “lapses” in the poll process.
“There were lapses in the election process. The election notification was pasted on the notice board four days after it was issued. The poll was held at a time the exams for supplementary papers are on,” Apurba Mondal, the college unit secretary of the AIDSO, said.
The SFI had been holding the union for more than 10 years before 2012.
