Borjhar, Dec. 17: The front wheel of a Pawan Hans helicopter was damaged five minutes after it landed at Guwahati airport today.
Sources in the airport said the Shillong-Guwahati helicopter landed at the LGBI airport with seven passengers around 1.30pm.
After all the passengers alighted, the helicopter was parked at bay No. 7 when the snag was detected.
“The helicopter bowed down as its front wheel broke. Technical experts are working to repair the wheel,” the Assam-Meghalaya helicopter operations in-charge, Munna Das, told The Telegraph over phone this evening.
A source said the helicopter had a safe landing. “The pilot did not face any problem while landing because the rear wheels were fine,” he said.
A Pawan Hans helicopter has three wheels, one in front and two at the rear.
Two helicopters fly between Guwahati and Shillong carrying passengers, including VIPs every day.
