Talk less, work more: CM

Plassey, Dec. 17: Mamata Banerjee today directed the district administrations to complete all projects, three days before she reviews the performance of ministers and bureaucrats in the past three months.

At a public programme in Nadia’s Plassey where she inaugurated 500 projects for Nadia and Murshidabad, the chief minister said: “I am telling the district magistrates, no project can be left pending. All projects have to be taken care of. Talk less, work more (katha kom, kaaj beshi).”

The government has been focussing on completing as many projects as possible before next year’s Lok Sabha polls. All departments have been asked to file by December 31 status reports of projects sanctioned by the government since May last year.

The district magistrates of Nadia and Murshidabad were present on the dais when Mamata made the comments today.

“Please go to block development officers and find out about government schemes,” Mamata told the crowd.

At an administrative meeting in Murshidabad’s Rejinagar later in the day, Mamata said “no parallel administration” would be allowed in Murshidabad. Sources said she could be referring to Congress strongman Adhir Chowdhury.

“The district administration will have to work as desired by the government. I hope you understand what I am saying, my hint is enough,” Mamata was quoted as saying.
